BHCO has invested $350,000 in water purification start-up En Gibton Ltd. at a company value of $1.4 million, after money. BHCO will own 25% of the company, which is based in Ashkelon Technological Industries (ATI).

En Gibton is developing an innovative ceramic-based bed for purifying water contaminated with organic waste. En Gibton CEO Rafi Nevo said, “We’re offering a solution for producing water from wells that have been closed because of poor quality caused by contamination from fertilizers, pesticides or fuel leaks from underground tanks. Our solution makes it possible to reopen these wells and prevent the closure of operating wells.”

The company’s solution can also purify drinking water from aboveground sources, such as lakes, rivers and reservoirs, and treat wastewater more effectively than filter-absorption methods.

Nevo predicts that En Gibton will begin sales during the second half of 2007.
